Did Jesus die on Good Friday?

According to the Bible (and after Christ, of course) between the death and resurrection of Christ it would be a time interval of 3 days and 3 nights. Judging the time would pass between Friday evening and Sunday morning we found that there is an interval of 3 days and 3 nights. And if Jesus was exactly what he said (and I believe, yes it was!), Must have a biblical and scriptural explanation to clarify what, in time, the old tradition has been saying about the death Jesus was a Friday.

Jesus' prophetic SIGNAL TO ITS DEATH

When the Pharisees came to Jesus wanting to see it a sign that will be credited as the Christ or Messiah (Matthew 12:38) "He answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, but no sign will be given but the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah was in the whale's belly three days and three nights, so shall the Son of Man in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. "Matthew 12:39,40.

THE THIRD DAY

In Matthew 16:21, Matthew 17:22,23, Mark 10:33,34 and Luke 24:6,7 we read indicated that Jesus would rise "on the third day." Some have supposed that a contradiction exists between the expression "the third day" and "three days and three nights." But there is no contradiction, because both terms are used in Scripture.

BOOK OF GENESIS, CHAPTER ONE

When we read in chapter one of Genesis, verses 4 and 5 indicate that "... God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and morning one day. "Gen. 1:4 b, 5. When in that same chapter we read verses 8 and 13, we see that it repeats the phrase "And the evening and the morning were the second day." (Vs 8), "And the evening and the morning were the third day" - or "third day" (vs.13).

Then we realize that in the first three days of darkness were three periods and three periods of light. That's why it can be noted here that the phrase "the third day" or "third day" indicates the sum or a total that includes 3 days (light) and 3 nights (darkness).

JESUS ROSE "THE THIRD DAY"

If we follow the tradition that Jesus died and was buried on Friday evening, we realize that Sunday morning is not the third day after Friday, but the third day would be and ending Monday evening.

And if we read in Mark 8:31, there we are told that "... it was the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected of the elders ..." "... and be killed and resurrected after three days." As see this phrase "after three days" indicates that Jesus would rise, already served a full three days, or three days and nights.

Wrong

Continue with the belief that Friday was the day of the crucifixion or the Sunday morning was the day of resurrection has been a departure from the days or the time it actually took place the events of Easter. Of course, for us whatever the day, what matters is that Jesus died for us, cleansing and forgiveness of sins. But one thing we must remember, is that God is a God of precision and accuracy and we are not to fix your prophetic events to the way he wants some, because of the inability of them to understand revelation the Holy Spirit the things God wants us to understand.

What matters most in this case is whether or not there was some purpose to replace a pagan festival in which on Friday was of particular attention, so that somehow it was not eliminated that particular day, but to be given monitoring, but this time with a new idea or purpose, declaring that the death of Jesus coincided in turn with the same Friday, the day of celebration. This has only served to leave no doubt that Christ gave the signal that as a credential on himself (Matthew 12:39,40), was not entirely clear. Many have tried to explain it in a superficial way, but many of us never convince us, therefore, no basis in Scripture.

So then present an investigation to prove biblically as possible that Jesus was buried for three days and three nights as he himself said in Matthew 12:40, his death must have occurred on a Wednesday afternoon and not a Friday. The Good Friday was not nothing but a tracking number or mixture of the feast of the goddess Freya (then explain this in more detail.) I am not accusing anyone but trying to help those who are interested in knowing about this particular issue. If someone chooses to continue with the idea that Jesus' death was a Friday and taught him, is his desire and mindset, and everyone has the freedom to think as you like with this matter.

THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS

Jesus said, "Are there not twelve hours of daylight" (John 11:9 a). By having the twelve hours of daylight, let the night with the other twelve hours remaining of the day. So also includes a full day night, ie the complete day and night for 24 hours, 12 hours for the day and 12 hours for the night, TOTAL: 24 hours. From this we understand that three days and three nights would amount to seventy-two (72) hours in total (24 X 3 = 72).

Starting from this premise, we believe that in Matthew 12:40 Jesus was prophesying that He would be in the tomb 72 hours (3 days and 3 nights) and then rise again. That is why in Mark 8:31 Jesus taught (not just reported) to the disciples that he must the Son of Man rose after three days, or after 72 hours of his death, and completed the 3 days and 3 nights.

According to Scripture, Jesus in the tomb should be no less than 72 hours ("three days and three nights"), and rise "after three days." (Matthew 12:40 and Mark 8:31). NO REASON TO THINK THAT SOME WERE LESS THAN 72 HOURS, OR THAT WERE MORE. In John 2:19 Jesus said, "Destroy this temple and in three days raise it up." The weather here can not be expressed more than 72 hours later, a minute 72 hours had already been the fourth day.

This means that Jesus was buried not less, not more than 72 hours. Our God is a God of accuracy and there is nothing accidental in what he does, but everything done in the auspicious hour.

THE TIME OF GOD

God sent His Son at the right time to happen, so in Galatians 4:4 says that He sent "when the fullness of time", ie, not a year before or a year later. In Daniel 9:25 and 26 revealed the time of his coming, and the time of his death. Those who tried to get their hands on Jesus (John 7:30, 8:20, 10:39), and tried to kill him early (John 8:59), could not, because "his hour had not come."

So not only the day and year of death were prepared beforehand by God, but the TIME was also part of the Divine plan. So when the time of his death when Jesus called the Father and said, "Father, the hour has come." John 17:1.

WHEN GOD FOR JESUS

God had an exact time for the birth of Christ (Dan.9: 25; Luc.2 :8-11; Gal.4: 4), an exact time for their baptism (John 1:26-34), an exact time for the beginning of his ministry (Luke 3:23), an exact time for His death (John 13:1, Luke 23:46); Therefore, it is unwise to think that God also had an exact time for Resurrection : exactly 72 hours after his death (Matthew 27:62,63), "after three days."

APPROXIMATE TIME OF CHRIST'S DEATH

According to Scripture, Jesus died after the ninth hour (or 3 pm). According to the biblical account, at the sixth hour (or 12 noon) had a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour (or 3 pm). Matthew 27:45, Mark 15:33, Luke 23:44. Continuing the count, we are told in Matthew 27:46, NEAR the ninth hour (3 PM) Jesus was still alive and issued their expressions from the cross. But coming after the ninth hour and then Jesus commended his spirit to the Father. Luke 23:44-46.

WHEN DEATH OCCURS DAY

All this happened in the preparation or the eve of the Passover (eve of Nisan 15). John 19:31,42. Since the next day was Sabbath, and we are told in John 19:31, he asked Pilate to take off the bodies of the crosses "in order that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath . "That same scripture says," that Sabbath was a high day. "In other words, Jesus died after the ninth hour (3 PM) the day before the Sabbath PASCUAL. We will now continue making a break to explain about the celebration of Passover.

THE FEAST OF EASTER

1 - The Feast of Passover began on day 14 of the first month, or Nisan, also known as Abib. Leviticus 23:5.

2 - The Lamb was sacrificed on day 14 of the first month in the evening (the first evening was 12-M to 3-PM, and the second 3-PM to 6-PM). Exodus 12:5,6; Lev. 23:5.

3 - The Feast of Unleavened Bread was carried into effect the day after the PACU from day 15 to 21, inclusive. Lev.23 6. Note that although in Leviticus 23:6 we are told that this feast began on the fifteenth day of the month, yet they ate the bread from the evening of Day 14 (Exodus 12:18) So the days of the Jews began from the previous afternoon, at about 6 pm, until the afternoon of that day (until 6 PM or so). That is, 15 days beginning on the afternoon of day 14 (approx. 6 PM) until the afternoon of 15 (6 PM) - (darkness and light, evening and morning one day Gen.1 =: 5.8 13).

4 - During the Easter had two days of holy convocation (2 days of rest), 15 and 21 of Nisan. In all there were eight days of festivity, Easter, Day 14, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread (from day 15, which began with the evening of day 14, at about 6 pm, until sunset on 21 the month of Nisan, or the first month).

REST DAYS OF EASTER

We reiterate that during the Passover (the name was given after the whole festival together, including the Feast of Unleavened Bread) had to save two (2) Days of rest: on 15 and 21. These two days of rest were of great solemnity Pascual for the Jews because during this celebrity is commemorated (and still is) the departure of the children of Israel from the land of Egypt by the hand of the Lord. Exodus 12:14, 24-27.

Now I want to give a scriptural example of how they kept the biblical Sabbath. If you read Leviticus 23:26,27,32 (three verses to be brief) you'll find that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, or day 10, was the Day of Atonement and had a holy convocation which is nothing more than a day of rest, and that this Sabbath begin on the evening of the ninth day until the evening of day 10. "... In late afternoon your sabbath." Lev.23: 32. The days of rest were kept from evening to evening (from 6-PM to 6-PM, approximately).

DEATH AND BURIAL OF CHRIST

Jesus died in the evening or immediately after the ninth hour (3 PM), on 14 Nisan, or the first month of the Jews. On that same evening, at the twelfth hour (6 PM), began the rest of Easter Feast of Unleavened Bread, Nisan 15, from the afternoon of day 14 until the afternoon of day 15 (approximately 6 PM to 6 PM), according to the commandment (Exodus 12:18, Lev. 23:32).

But as the day 15 Nisan was the Easter Sabbath, or as it was called "Easter", and as he could fall on any day of the week, this year fell Thursday as the biblical account. That meant that in that week had two Sabbaths, one per year (Easter), and weekly (on Saturday).

COORDINATION OF EVENTS ESCRITURALES

When Jesus dies (as set with the Passover lamb in Exodus 12:3-6), in the evening of day 14 (Wednesday), which in turn was the eve of the Sabbath (Pascual, Yearly), take the Jesus' body for burial at sunset. The burial of Jesus was led by Joseph of Arimathea (John 19:38, Luke 23:50-52, Mark 15:42,43).

There were women who followed Jesus (Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph), which witnessed his burial by Joseph of Arimathea. In Matthew 27:61 we are told that they were "sitting opposite the tomb." In Mark 15:47 we are told that they "saw where he was laid." And in Luke 23:55 we are told that "saw the tomb and as his body was laid. "

Something to note here is that Jesus' body was buried in haste, urgency, since he was about daybreak Nursing Pascual. Luke 23:53,54. And in John 19:41,42 we are told that Jesus was buried in a new tomb, as it was close and because of the preparation of the Passover (referring to the preparation for the Passover Sabbath was about to starting that night, read Mark 15:42).

But the Bible does not recount what happened during day 15 of Nisan, the annual Sabbath or Passover, which fell this year Thursday, because he was a celebrity of total rest, each family in their home, to participate the Passover meal with unleavened bread a day of great solemnity. John 19:31. That's when the chief priests and Pharisees gathered before Pilate to ask that the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting a guard to watch, so that the disciples of Jesus did not come at night to steal his body and then tell the people that had risen from the dead, as the chief priests and Pharisees remembered that Jesus, the deceiver as they had said was still alive: "After three days rise again." Matthew 27:62-66.

Since the day after the Sabbath was a working day (although the celebration continued), we then take preventive measures with regard to grave, ie the 16th of Nisan, which fell Friday. It was then that women who were sitting, looking and seeing in front of the tomb are the market to buy spices to anoint Jesus' body. Mark 16:1.

Notice also that Mark 16:1 says went to buy spices "as he passed the Sabbath." By comparing what the text says what it says in Luke 23:56, we realize that returning them to buy those spices, prepared them in their homes and then "rested the sabbath day according to the commandment."

Mark states that "when it passed the Sabbath" (The annual Passover), they went to buy spices. And Luke says that the return prepared spices and "rested the Sabbath according to the commandment" (weekly Sabbath). We have noticed that there were two days of rest that week, which they rested. First Easter, declared Leviticus 23:6,7 ("high day" John 19:31), and second the weekly Sabbath in Exodus said 20:10 ("according to the commandment" Luke 23:56).

Are you fixed? There is no contradiction in what the Bible says, but we also casts light regarding that Jesus was really buried at sunset (or sun, then, and dark) on Wednesday, 14 Nisan, and the next day, Thursday, 15 Nissan Annual Rest was Passover, and for that reason the two Marys remained sitting there opposite the tomb looking at doing nothing, then, since breaking of the Sabbath (Passover) and everything was closed. But once spent the Sabbath (Mark 16:1), the next day was Friday, Nisan 16, were the market to buy spices, then, was a typical day of work. Then they returned and prepared spices to anoint Jesus' body, but they did that day because they had to save another day of rest (the week of the ten commandments) that week fell Saturday, 17 Nisan.

RESURRECTION OF CHRIST - THE END OF SATURDAY

We should note that these same women went to the tomb with the spices already prepared to anoint the body of Jesus after three days, not before. That's why the Bible says then they went to the tomb "past the Sabbath, at dawn on FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK ..." Matthew 28:1. This becomes clear he was referring to the Sabbath (Saturday) this week that preceded the first day of next week, or to Sunday 18 Nisan and not referring to the annual Sabbath (Thursday, 15 Nisan) that weeks preceded the sixth day of the week, or to Friday 16 Nisan.

Mark, Luke and John were just talking the first day of the week, very early. That time and 72 hours of prophetic fulfillment of the sign of Jonah had already had their terms, then, Jesus said, and Jonas was three days and three nights in the belly of the fish, also be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights, or 72 hours, any longer, not a minute less. Matthew 12:40.

We must then understand that Jesus was buried at sunset on Wednesday and that:

1 - the evening of Wednesday, 14 Nisan on the evening of Thursday, 15 Nisan (Passover Sabbath) there is a night and day.

2 - sunset on Thursday, 15 Nisan on the evening of Friday, 16 Nisan two nights and two days.

3 - sunset on Friday 16 Nisan on the evening of Saturday, 17 Nisan (weekly rest) is THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS. This then is the hour when Jesus rose from the dead. Hallelujah!

A RECOUNT OF THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK

In Matthew 28:1 we are told that Mary Magdalene with two other women go to the tomb, and John 20:1 says that he did "was yet dark." In Mark 16:2 we are left knowing they reach the grave " the sun had risen. "

We parenthesis here to note that although many claim that Jesus rose on Sunday morning, we understand what the Bible says is the first day of the week was when the disciples discovered that Jesus had risen. Matthew 28:1-6, Mark 16:2-6, Luke 24:1-2, John 20:1-2.

None of these passages indicates that this was the hour of resurrection. The tomb was empty all the time they were still early in the morning. Some cite Mark 16:9 to teach that the resurrection of Christ was the first weekday morning. But what the Gospel of Mark 16:9 is that Jesus says we had risen early the first day of the week. Commas which paraphrase and translation as if it was the morning of that day, we must be aware that the Bible had no punctuation at the beginning and these were added to the 15 th century after the invention of Aldus score Manutions . Then the translators added commas where they thought they should be, based on logic.

Noting that in Mark 16:9 the comma is placed after the word "tomorrow", that connects with the time the morning of the resurrection. But if the comma is placed after the word "resurrected" or "rose," according to version, and remove the comma to "morning" and "week", then we see the correct meaning of Scripture. One thing we must remember, is that the words of the Bible were those who were inspired, not the score, which was added much later by men. That Sunday, and early in the morning, the Bible tells us that Jesus had already risen ("Having risen Jesus as ...") Mark 16:9. This indicates that when the resurrection of Christ was the end of the Sabbath (sunset) and at the very beginning the first day that began at the end of the seventh day, that is the evening of Saturday, then there was that was just beginning the first day (Sunday). So while it was still early in the morning and Jesus was not in the tomb, later, had risen! Amen.
